Yup they’re all better, I think Kieran Reid is the best 8 in the world atm. But you forgot Spies (SA)?
finally some one that agrees, farrel aint all that his running game is just as bad as cipriani defence
All the things you’ve said Easter can’t do, he in fact can do. In the Quins vs Leicster match he was brilliant. He caught a kick off then chipped the winger and caught it. He busted through Tom Croft to score a try as if he wasn’t even there. I dont know many other 8s who can combine finess and power as potently as he can, which is even more surprising given his age.
this is a little harsh. morgan has only very recently been considered as an international. other than him, who else should have been played at 8?
flood is miles bettter than farrell at everything except kicking. he takes the ball flatter, has better distribution and actually has some sort of running game.
easter was a decent 6 in 2006/7. Poor from then on and before
I’d love to see a footrace between him and Radike Samo…I reckon Croft would be leading at 40m, Samo at 80m and from there on I reckon it could be anyones game, who knows…we may get to see it on the lions tour?
He wasn’t all bad, he could kick, pass, throw a good dummy, always made his first up tackles, was very solid in the set piece and was a strong short range runner…like you say though, he was nothing on the likes of parisse (very few are) and he certainly wasn’t the athlete that guys like Samo or Faletau are…
the only guy I enjoy watching, I think, on that English team. The team is very efficient, great defense, great scrum….but so ugly to watch !…
Nice try Tom….what a bad loss for us this one…
those legs :O
Who would you rate Easter over? This is my list of best No8’s from best to worst 1 per country: Parisse(ita), Harinodoquy(fra), Denton(scot), Samo(aus), Morgan(eng), Lobbe(arg), Reid(nz), Heaslip(ire), Faletau(wal). Easter is not nearly as good as any of them, should never have played at international level. Only thing he could do was control the ball at the scrum base, he couldnt run, pass, join the line properly, carry, crash ball, clear out or retrieve. He was terrible.

I didnt say I rate Hodgson over Flood. Flood would defo get the nod for the 22 but wouldnt start for me, Farrell all the way now. I dont know what your expecting from England after the World cup debacle, but Lancaster’s done superb, we almost took Wales. Theres still plenty to work on, that I agree, but for a team thats played 5 games together, 4 wins is exceptional. We didnt just beat Italy and the Jocks on pure luck, our defense was incredible. Easters better than your saying lol
Not really. We only just beat Italy and Scotland on blind luck. Our front row has been outstanding but from there back its pretty average. Nick Easter is the worst No8 in top tier rugby (Six nations + Quad Nations) would never put him on the pitch again. Seriously how can you not like flood? He had more creativity in 10 minutes against Wales than Hodgson did in two games. Centre partnership is still dodgy and our distribution is poor; wingers never see the ball. Lots to work on.
That’s thanks to the SWEET CHARRIOT !!
croft for lions blindside
I was at the game and it was a brilliant performance by a new look England. Lancaster should get the coaches job because he has clearly got the support of the players.
The tests going to be in the next few games as to see if this is a flash in the pan or a true new start with long term promise.
Wales blew hot and cold for years before coming good. England must not do the same.
Give him the job and let the players play with the confidence and freedom they showed on the last 3 games of this 6
Well, its widely accepted Johnsons reign was a failure. Although I believe he would have learned from all the mistakes in the world cup and I would have kept him on, you have to don your cap to Lancaster. He’s a winner from the start. No looking back now.
How is Lancaster a hypocrite?? He’s done nothing but promote optomism and enthusiasm amongst a scratch new team full of new talent, and done a fantastic job of it too. Sharples will get his chance at some point, and was great in defense against France. If you think Lancasters a failure, your deluded tbh.
I agree with Lancasters pessimism over flood, and tbh, your pessimism over Sharples is premature to say the least. Haskell?? what about him?? would rather have Easter as a bench replacement for the outstanding Morgan. Robshaws has earned his stripes, Woods comes back to the bench for me. He doesnt hate flood, just unconvinced tbh, as I am.Plenty to be pleased about. What a 6 nations!!

Hope at last = Winning a World Cup, not we had a reasonable one!
Reasonable doesn’t win World Cups. Ask a Southern Hemisphere nation what reasonable means in Rugby terms! With the excellent performance of the English team against France and one of the best individual tries I’ve ever seen, a forward galloping like a three-quarter, there’s “Hope at Last!”.
I dont like lancaster at all. Hes far too media conscious and a massive hypocrit. He makes some pretty poor decisions too, why does he hate Toby Flood so much? Charlie Hodgson 2nd choice fly? Really? He didnt use the Italy game to test new players at all, didnt see Sharples until this game and have yet to see Brown. Robshaw as captain is a mistake, hes not even secure in his position. What will happen when Wood and Haskell are back? Still need a genuine openside.
Hope at last? Why does everyone slam the Johnson era as a total failure? He brought through so much talent, most of these players have been capped by Johnson, even mr. average-barrit. We won a 6 nations under Johnson and lost the last game because the players choked, not bad management. We also have back to back wins against Australia and had a reasonable World Cup. We won as many world cup games as the massively overrated Wales and lost to the side that nearly beat NZ. It wasnt so bad.
Hells teeth!! for a moment through squinted eyes, I thought Robinson was back playing for England!! lol. Well done Crofty, fantastic performance. I wonder in this coincides with how well things are going off the pitch in the camp. Everyone seems to be playing well atm. Lancaster for the job permanantly. Why theres even talk of anyone else is crazy. Who else could have done a job with a scratch team as well as this?? No one imo.
